House 33-3: The Dining Area - a Place of Gathering
The client used to dine in the living area and wanted a separate dining space. To address the client's desire, we embraced the concept of an open plan which connects the living, dining and kitchen spaces.
Dining areas often experience high traffic and are prone to food and drink spills. To counter this, we designed the space to use vinyl planks - which are budget-friendly, easy to clean, resilient, and easy to replace should the client wish to upgrade later.
Another feature added is that the dining area extends up at the northeastern side of the house to a pergola, which helps with the natural light and ventilation of the house and the feeling of connection between the outdoors and indoors.
